Duplex 2205 Pipe
Duplex 2205 Pipe is part of the duplex family of steel components. The duplex is a stainless steel with a dual nature combining good features of the ferritic steel phase and the austenitic steel phase present in the metallurgic microstructure of the material. The material is categorized into three major groups; the duplex, super duplex and the lean duplex grades. There are different grades, standards and schedules of these pipes which govern the dimensions and pressure classes. The Alloy 2205 Seamless Pipes are cold drawn and has less absolute roughness. Therefore the dimensions are more precise than the Duplex SS 2205 Welded Pipes. The Duplex 2205 Seamless Pipes belongs to the duplex group of the pipes and this is the most used group. Due to the milder and balanced mechanical properties and the low cost of these pipes, they are used more than the other types. The Duplex 2205 Pipes could be used in high temperatures and pressures with mild corrosion resistance. The grading of duplex is mainly based on the addition of the alloying materials such as the chromium, molybdenum and nickel.
The Duplex 2205 Seamless Pipes are also highly resistant to chloride ion corrosion stress cracking. This property makes it a good choice for sea water and marine applications. The strength of the ASTM A790 Duplex 2205 Welded Pipes could be applied in pulp and paper industry. The applications of the 2205 Duplex Pipes vary and could be seen in the food processing equipment, chemical processing vessels and oil and gas industries as well. There are different sizes and shapes of the pipes used such as the SA 789 Alloy 2205 4 inch Pipes. Depending on the need of the application, there are different pressure classes and schedules available. The Duplex SS 2205 Schedule 40 Pipes for example has a medium range pressure containment capacity.
